Article: Take Heed - Part 1 by KingBrush

JAMB TAKE HEED!!!

Some years back, 2013 to be precise, there was mass deduction in the marks of candidates who sat for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination. This propelled an aggrieved and infuriated teacher by the name Tola Bolaji, to write an article that was published in a national newspaper, titled JAMB CONSPIRACY.

He wrote on how a national examination board conspired against their own students, hindering them from reaching their peak. This article and some others charged the board to reduce the cut-off mark to 180 that year.

Now, three years after, almost the same scenario occurs. The Joint Admission Matriculation Board having introduced the Computer Based Test (CBT), has decided to use this opportunity to amass wealth by failing so many students so that they can sit for the exam the following year.
Imagine a situation where a student studies at least eight hours a day, having it in mind to score well above 300 but when the result is revealed, he saw 182!

Also, I saw the result of a friend which aroused my suspicion. If the first student I mentioned did not prepare enough, how about a student that had 132 as her exam score and having 02 in one subject!
When I had my exams this year, I was one of those who did their exams on the first day. It was announced that 40 marks where added to their scores. I don't see any reason for this action if not to cover their mistakes. I am of the view that they only returned part of the marks deducted because people were complaining about the score. We should note that most centers experienced server failure, slow loading of questions, system self log out e.t.c.

The worst incident occurred in Delta state where students got their results before their exams. This clearly spells it out that real marks are not being sent and printed. What we have as our score is already programmed. When students get results before the exam, sitting for it is grotesque.
I am of the opinion that JAMB is not ripe enough for the CBT although it's a good system. We should go back to our old ways of shading and upright marking.

I, as a student do not agree with my score and will not until JAMB shows me my e-script stating what and what I got wrong.

I commend all the students who disagree with corruption and cheating, who have started stalking JAMB offices in their states and regions. God bless you.
